Half-day (pm) Seminar - Data Management in Civils & Geotechnics

Upgrading Scotland’s Transport System
Data Management in Civils & Geotechnics
Thistle
Coinciding with substantial new funding to the seven Regional Transport Partnerships, January 2006 saw Transport Scotland take charge of the major infrastructure projects, initiating work on a wide range of road and rail improvements. With such significant upgrading of the Scottish transport infrastructure it is understandable that many participants are finding it difficult to assimilate the enormous amounts of information being generated by surveyors, site investigators, and instrument data loggers. One solution is to implement systems that enable data to be transferred smoothly and seamlessly between collaborating organisations. There are two prerequisites to service this solution: common standards for data transfer, and readily available communications channels.

Exploit electronic resources to cut costs and improve performance
At Keynetix we’ve been addressing these issues for more than 15 years and remain at the forefront in utilising the internet and data handling techniques for the benefit of civil and geotechnical engineers. To compete in Scotland today it is vital for geotechnical and monitoring engineers to be fully aware of the benefits these resources can offer, in terms of reducing staff time and cutting operational costs.

So whether you are a site investigation specialist wanting to know the how and why of digital data for your clients, an engineering consultant needing to improve the drawing production, analysis and design processes, or a monitoring provider yearning to give your client more immediate and real-time access to his data, this seminar is a unique opportunity to learn how to exploit these valuable resources. There is also much to interest and engage the Project Manager, the Information Technologist, the CAD Technician and the GIS Administrator.

Whatever your role, effective data management is one of the biggest challenges facing civil engineering in Scotland today.
