Keynetix Launches Major Upgrade for Market Leading Geotechnical Laboratory Management System

Keynetix is delighted to announce a major upgrade to their popular geotechnical laboratory management software, KeyLAB. KeyLAB Version 2 has been completely rewritten with a determined focus on making all operations simpler and more flexible. KeyLAB 2 contains intelligent new features that will help organizations who run more than one laboratory, work to standards other than British Standards, or wish to move the system into a paperless environment.
The first version of KeyLAB was launched in 2004 and has become the market leader for geotechnical laboratory managers in the UK, British Standard based, laboratory market.
“KeyLAB 2 has been entirely reworked from the ground up” says Dr Roger Chandler, Managing Director of Keynetix. “This has been a significant investment for Keynetix which, happily, is already beginning to pay off as pre-release sales of KeyLAB 2 are looking extremely healthy.”
The focus of the development has been to make a system that is simple and intuitive for all levels of laboratory staff. Recent Keynetix trials show this aim has been achieved, proving that the average learning curve for technicians to enter test data has been reduced to a remarkable 20 minutes.
“The second challenge has been to make a simple system that was flexible enough to allow lab managers to set up any test sheets for any national standard” says Project Manager, Graham Ward. “We did a full review of all features and wish lists from the first version and made everything as simple as possible. We were helped considerably in this by our committed KeyLAB customers who attended webinars and a developer day, ensuring that our improvements were a direct response to their professional requirements.”
Once again tests have shown that Keynetix have comfortably met their brief here, as a new worksheet or report can now be added to the system in less than an hour. The powerful, yet simple KeyLAB designer application gives laboratory managers around the world the opportunity to have a fully flexible and easy to use laboratory management system for the first time.
“We have had a fantastic response to the system from overseas and, with serious enquiries arriving from New Zealand, Australia and Europe, we look forward to announcing our first KeyLAB users in these areas very shortly” said Roger Chandler. “In fact, I am so impressed by the overseas opportunities that I will be returning to Australia in October to present at the Australian Geotechnical Testing Association (AGTA) conference.”
New KeyLAB users Southern Testing have also expressed satisfaction with their new software. “We have been very impressed with the responsiveness of the Keynetix development and support team” said Managing Director, Morris Stevenson, who purchased a pre-release copy of KeyLAB 2 and have been working very closely with Keynetix as a Beta testing partner. “The system is very flexible and will allow us to integrate our existing reports. We are looking forward to expanding our use of the system to cover all of our testing over the coming months.”
Environmental Scientifics Group (ESG) Geotechnical Laboratory Technical Manager, Peter Keeton, added to the positive user feedback, stating “ESG has been a KeyLAB development partner since the first version and I have been impressed with the level of investment that has gone into this new version. It shows how committed Keynetix are to the program and we look forward to migrating our systems to KeyLAB 2″.
