This week two new LinkedIn groups have been launched for the geotechnical and environmental data management professional.  The Geotechnical Data Hub and the Environmental Data Hubs have already attracted 45 members each even before the official launch and both Fionn Wardrop, manager of the Environmental Data Hub and Dr Roger Chandler manager of the Geotechnical Data Hub are excited by the opportunities each Hub offers their respective industries.
“There are two main benefits for joining each Hub” outlined Dr Roger Chandler, Technical Director at Keynetix “Firstly you will be able to pose questions and take part in discussions with other members of each Hub using LinkedIn’s excellent discussion forums.  Secondly both Hubs have a website where articles on data management will be posted every two weeks.”
“We are keen to ensure that each Hub website contains information on data management best practices” said Fionn Wardrop, Business Development Manager at Keynetix “we have been pleased with the interest in both Hubs and already have a number of authors lined up for articles over the coming months.”
The groups have received review from its members already.  “Fantastic Linkedin Group, well organized, good looking, and with lots of interesting information! well done!” commented Miguel Morgado, Senior GIS Consultant at Harrison Group Environmental a few days after the group was added to LinkedIn.
Membership to each group is free and open to everyone involved in either Environmental or Geotechnical Data Management in any form.  For more information visit www.geotechnicaldatahub.com or www.environmentaldatahub.com
