|Welcome to Site Investigation News, the newsletter of Keynetix Ltd.
You may remember that we announced in the last edition of SI News that we were very pleased that we had been shortlisted in a joint submission with Mott MacDonald for HA GDMS (Highways Agency Geotechnical Data Management System) in the product innovation award at the annual Ground Engineering awards. Well, sad to report, despite a great product and an excellent submission we didn’t win this time around. Our congratulations go to Geobrugg AG who won the day with their GBE Rock Fall Barrier Range.
The picture below shows some of the key members of the HA GDMS team hiding their disappointment well!

Summer has arrived and briefly shown its face and with it comes the arrival of Geotechnica 2011. We had a great couple of days at Geotechnica last summer and are really looking forward to a return next week. The article below gives more details on why we think so highly of Geotechnica and what we are planning to offer on our stand.
Speaking of summer, it is a season that Roger Chandler will be skipping this year as he has just departed for a business and market research trip to Singapore, Australia, New Zealand and Hong Kong. Roger has an exciting program of meetings booked, but still has a handful of meeting slots available. If you work in one of these countries, or have colleagues who might benefit from a meeting with Roger give me a call and I’ll let you know if he can accommodate you (my number is in the panel below).
Back in the office we are very pleased to have recently completed the build and release of KeyLAB2, which is now being actively used by our existing KeyLAB customers. Roger Chandler has written an article that provides more information, so do read on if you are interested in learning more.
|Roger’s KeyLAB2 Release Note Here…
|KeyLAB 2 does exist and we now have users who can prove it!
KeyLAB 2 has been in development for the last 3 years and it is with great excitement (and some exhaustion) that we hosted the first KeyLAB 2 users day at Keynetix this month. During the day several of the UK largest labs explored the system and provide us with vital feedback on its use.
The first user day is always a nervous event as we never quite know how the program will stand up to being used for the first time by people outside of the development team and how people will react to the new features. KeyLAB 2 is a complete rewrite of the existing system with lots of new stuff so we were doubly nervous!
To our relief (and excitement) the day was a great success and at the end of it we had around 50 post-it notes on our KeyLAB 2 Cool Wall and a host of feedback to cram into the final release. A big thank you to everyone who took part in the day. KeyLAB 2 has had its second big outing recently with the first new customer install. This was another successful day and the company in question is now working towards moving the system into a production environment next month.
We still have 2 places left on the beta programme and so if you have been considering replacing your Laboratory management system please call Roger Chandler on 01527 68888 to find out the benefits of the beta programme.
Final release of the software will be around the end of May and we will give you updates in future editions of Site Investigation News.
|Will you be visiting Geotechnica 2011?
|The biggest geotechnical show of the year takes place next week on Wednesday 6th and Thursday 7th July.
Keynetix will be exhibiting on Stand 9 and we very much hope to see you there.
Geotechnica is now in its third year and we recently spoke with the organisers to see how things are shaping up this year. If you have been to any shows in the last 12 months you may well have noticed that attendances have been down and the number of exhibitors reduced from previous years. Unfortunately this has been a sign of the times, but not it appears for Geotechnica 2011 as they are bucking the trend and have more than 80 confirmed exhibitors.
So, why is this event doing so well? In our opinion it is because it is the only show aimed solely at every discipline within the geotechnical industry. That means that you get the opportunity to visit a plethora of specialist stands, focused precisely on what we do.
Combine this with the free seminars that are running on both days and you have an event that is worth its weight in gold and, importantly in today’s environment, does not cost anything to attend.
We will have members of the support, training and sales teams present, so if you have a question please drop me a line and arrange a time to come and have a one to one with the support team, some free training or meet me to discuss your software needs.

|Another 100 members join the Geotechnical Data Hub
|You may remember that in the last issue of this newsletter we were proud to announce that we had hit the 500 members milestone with our Geotechnical Data Hub LinkedIn group.
The first 500 took us just over 16 months to sign up, but since we hit this milestone the pace has picked up and we were delighted to see another 100 members join us over the past 6 weeks.
The Geotechnical Data Hub is a closed group which means that we approve all members before they join. The reason we choose to keep it a closed group is to ensure that the content maintains a geotechnical flavour and to protect our members from irrelevant content and promotions.
If you have not yet joined the group then why not take a moment to see what your contemporaries are talking about by visiting:

|Keynetix Data Review Meetings save customers money!
|We have been delighted by the response to our free data review meetings during the first quarter of the year.
Taking a couple of hours out of someone’s busy schedule to sit down, analyse their workflow, review their working habits and produce a report on where savings can be made and efficiencies found has proved beneficial in just about every instance. Indeed, in some meetings it has been pretty eye-opening to see how time and money are simply thrown away through inefficient processes.
Of course, there is a trade off to the meetings for us; the efficiencies are sometimes found by introducing our software to the process and this can be how we benefit. What is absolutely clear, however, is that the introduction of new methods or a relatively low cost piece of software can give an exceptionally rapid return on investment.
With business conditions remaining difficult for many, the time is absolutely right to review the processes you use on a daily basis to see whether or not there are areas of work that are taking too long, costing too much or causing more hassle than they should.
We will be happy to come and visit you to provide a review of your data workflow. It only takes a maximum of a couple of hours and we are very confident that this small amount of time spent reviewing your data workflow will prove beneficial to you very quickly.
