Always using current data

Often the CAD team will be presented with data in Excel Spreadsheets or CSV files that are not connected to a central project database.  This can result in the out of date data being used by the CAD team with disastrous or expensive results.

Because the HoleBASE SI Extension for AutoCAD Civil 3D connects to the current project database it will automatically produce the drawings and model using the latest version of the data. There is no need for the engineers to produce a new version of the data each time, it is all automatic.

By using the HoleBASE SI Extension for AutoCAD Civil 3D there is no need to check that the spreadsheet data your CAD team are using is the latest version. More importantly, the wasted time caused by using the wrong version of data will be removed completely.

Automatic updating of data

During the life of a project the data will be updated and edited several times resulting in expensive modifications to the model or drawing.  This is why the traditional approach is to produce the geotechnical drawings at the end of the project.

HoleBASE SI Extension for AutoCAD Civil 3D turns this process upside down.  Any data updates can be automatically incorporated into any site plan, section, model or borehole stick by simply selecting the Update button.  The update process will compare the latest version of the data in the database and tell the user what has changed.  Once confirmed all the geotechnical drawing objects will be updated to reflect the changes.

The update feature of HoleBASE SI Extension for AutoCAD Civil 3D means that geotechnical drawings and models can now be set up before any boreholes are drilled and then updated as the data becomes available.

Making the geotechnical data available to the BIM team at any time in the project is now possible.

CAD Standards and Hatching Styles

The hatching patterns used to represent soil or rock are descriptive patterns and have clearly defined standards within each organization. This is very useful for Geotechnical Engineers but very time consuming to implement using the standard HATCH command in AutoCAD.

HoleBASE SI Extension for AutoCAD Civil 3D takes care of this by including a hatching manager that allows you to define which patterns and scales to use for each legend or geology code.  Each layer can have one or more patterns assigned to it at different scales and the system is shipped with additional AutoCAD .pat files for some of the more complex hatching patterns.

You can also define which layers each object drawing will be added to by using the Extension.  This will enable you to set up the system once to match your CAD standards and then relax as the HoleBASE SI Extension for AutoCAD Civil 3D takes care of your geotechnical layer standards for every project.
